Super Secret Christmas Project
So after weeks of trying to keep my mouth shut as much as possible I can now reveal what our "Super Secret Christmas Project" was to the general internet population. My mom went on a trip, driving out to San Diego then taking a cruise around Hawaii, then driving back from San Diego. In all it took over 2 weeks. More importantly it left 2 weekends free.About 7 months ago she had purchased enough laminate flooring to redo most of her house. Over the summer we got one room done over the weekend. The rest of the house still needed to be done we just needed to find a spare weekend or two.
We had no idea what to get her this year, and had to conserve our spending. Since we did have 2 weekends free and had to go get his venison anyway we decided this would be the perfect gift.
I had to let my sister in on the secret since she is at the house on the weekends. I was thinking that we wouldn't hear from my mom to often while she was traveling, but alas she did call every few days. That has to be the hardest thing. Chad did most of the work and he did a great job.
My mom got in town last Sunday and we were going to spending Christmas Eve with my family. I had taken the picture of Daniel sitting on the new flooring just before we left her house. That is what she opened. Of course we had to mess with her before hand. I grabbed some of her own jewelry and her old camera (I had actually forgotten our camera and had to use her old one anyway) and she opened those first. Then lastly she opened the picture. Of course she was still confused so we asked her what was different about her house.....then she saw the flooring.
Like every year I can't believe Christmas has already came and went. A few weeks ago my mom got me the movie "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever". We saw it when we were young and would still refer to the "Herdmans" every year, although I only remember seeing it once. Well we watched it on Christmas Eve morning and it is still just a great Christmas movie. It will be our new tradition.
I have some more pictures to post later. I didn't get as many as I would have liked. Daniel did not want to cooperate at my family's get together, and Christmas morning he actually got a time out at one point. However we really did have a great Christmas weekend.......and now I really don't want to go back to work:-(

My Snoopy Tree 2007
Chad has been giving me these Snoopy Ornaments for years. This year we decided to put them all one one smaller tree. I couldn't think of what to use for a tree skirt. Them I remembered the Snoopy Christmas special and realized a blankie would make the perfect skirt. I love my Snoopy tree and it will be back every year.Christmas card photo session
Like last year we took our Christmas pictures ourselves. We like the WHOLE family to be in them, including the animals (of course Tess is added later). Like last year we did a Simpson's like one. We actually have so much fun taking these. My mom is on a cruise in Hawaii so we decided to wear these shirts and make a theme of it.Daniel's Tree
My mom gave us this tree. It is fiber optic and the snowmen move. Every day Daniel waves at the snowmen and waits for them to finish decorating the tree.Thursday, December 06, 2007
And then I have too.......and then.....and then
Well its that time of the year again where you start to compile a list of things to "get done" before the big day, and for me its also the time of the year where I get hit with a cold. I did get the flu shot this year. I normally don't because......I don't see the real need for me even though I do get the flu once, also I am allergic to eggs, although not severely. This year since 2.0's due date is Feb 1st (mental note: put the ticker on the sidebar) I decided I don't want to risk complications with getting the flu so close to his due date. However the shot doesn't stop a cold. Daniel has one to, although I think it is going away. We have put vapor rub on him every night, have a vapor plug in his room., and last night Chad set up the humidifier. This morning he didn't wake up coughing like the past few days and his nose isn't as runny. I have a sore throat, sinus congestion, and general exhaustion. However after a great night's sleep I do feel better today. So that brings me back to my "to-do" list.- Take Christmas photo - this may have to be done tonight since we will be busy for the next 2 weekends
- Take pictures of my "Snoopy Tree".... which I LOVE....and put said picture on blog!!
- Start and finish our super secret Christmas project
- Go up North to get Chad's deer meat
- Call my sister
- Buy tickets for Greenfield Village's Holiday Nights
- Call my Aunt so we can't see them before we go to Holiday Nights
- Finish Christmas shopping
- Continue the Mommy and Daniel baking/crafting extravaganza! (so far this has been fun)
- Help Daniel write a blog (he won't stop bugging me about it;-)
- Cut the cat's nails
- Keep the house clean
- Put the holiday decorations we aren't using away
- Write up some processes for work so "someone" (probably no one) can do my job while I am on leave
- Send in Flex Spending stuff
- Oh add the "baby's due" ticker to the sidebar
- Probably a thousand of other things I am forgetting
The house has actually stayed clean lately.......I didn't even stress out for the last 2 showings....yes DENISE DID NOT STRESS OUT ABOUT 2 Showings in a ROW!!!!!!!!!! I had the glucose screening before one last Friday and I think there is something in that orange drink that just mellowed me out. That or the fact that I don't give a crap much anymore.....well somewhat.
We are still waiting (praying) for direction on the house situation. We have set a deadline of January 15 to make a final decision on what we are going to do. I really hope something happens before then. On the bright side the realtor told Chad that in our city there is an 11 month inventory of houses, while in a nearby city its a 78 month inventory.......Yes its a "good" thing that it may take 11 more months to sell our house;-)
